Located just past Rick’s Café in Negril’s West End, Can-Jam Retreat is a uniquely ganja-friendly property and a must visit destination for any serious weed enthusiast visiting this area of Jamaica. It’s about 90 minutes from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay and mere 15 minutes to downtown Negril for restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and 7-Mile-Beach. This is a place for the ganja tourist whose primary reason for coming to Jamaica is to stay high and happy. It’s also just 20 minutes from Orange Hill, where some of Jamaica’s finest cannabis is cultivated by local grassroots farmers. Guests also have access to the property’s Wake & Bake Café and Stoner’s Sanctuary.

About the rooms

Can-Jam offers comfortable accommodations in 4 rooms; 3 of which are part of the main building, and which all come with A/C, fans, a refrigerator, tv and WiFi. The 4th room is a “hut” but also has fans, a refrigerator a bathroom and a shower. A shuttle service to the beach is available for a small charge.

Wake & Bake Cafe

This café is an obligatory stop for any ganja enthusiast visiting Negril – even if they’re not planning to stay at the Can-Jam Retreat. Bold signs at the entrance declare that ganja smoking is a sacramental right and is the only kind of smoking that is allowed. It’s a great place to start the day with a cup of infused Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. The café sells lots of things cannabis as well as mushrooms and boasts a menu that includes edibles such as popcorn and milkshakes that are made on the spot. They are also known for their cakes, gummies and magic ginger brownies and cookies.

Stoner’s Sanctuary

Stoner’s Sanctuary is a place to chill and relax in a beautiful, zen, quiet tropical garden behind the café abundant with flowers, fruits, and birds. There are quaint little sitting areas in shady areas of the garden to sit, wander or laze in a hammock.

Tours and experiences

Can-Jam offers tours that include House of Sensi in nearby Orange Hill as well as to Wabba’s Weed Farm at Blue Hole Mineral Spring. There is also live music every Thursday from Calbert and the All Star Drummers who provide epic vibes from sunset until about 10pm.
