This rustic18th century great house sits on a hilltop surrounded by light tropical forest overlooking the small coastal town of Bluefields with stunning views of the largely undeveloped southwest coast of Jamaica and the broad expanse of the Caribbean beyond. The restored plantation house has been operating as a guesthouse since 1992 and retains much of its charming colonial style. It is about 1 hour from Montego Bay and 45 minutes from Negril. Comfortable accommodations

Shafston Great House offers accommodations that include basic rooms with shared baths in the side building and suites in the plantation house as well as 3 rooms with double and queen beds. There is one room with a king-size bed. There is also a pool and billiards table as well as a restaurant and bar.

Frank, the German owner of Shafston Great House is a ganja activist and promoter. He heartily welcomes ganja consumers but forbids smoking inside the house. Like almost anywhere in Jamaica, ganja is very easily available.

There are lots of activities for the culturally curious or the tourist who gets bored lounging by the pool. These activities range from hiking to bird watching as well as a broad variety island excursions.
